Medical components from Lake Constance

Kammerer MedTec, part of the family-owned Kammerer Medical Group, produces turned and milled components for leading medical technology companies, used in products for the knee, hip and spine. Led by Christopher Kammerer, the company grew from a small machining shop into a key part of the group. In 2023, it moved into a new, sustainable production and office building in Stockach. CNC automation is a crucial part of its modern machine park.

Turn-Assist and Pallet-Load

On its Mazak Integrex multitasking machines, Kammerer uses RoboJob Turn-Assist Essential cells. For its Mazak CV5-500, it chose the RoboJob Pallet-Load: a very simple automation concept for turning, milling and turn-mill machines. The robot loads raw parts directly from one or more pallets into the machine and places finished parts back on the pallets. For accurate positioning, the raw parts sit on an aluminium pallet that the customer configures to the workpiece dimensions.

The result: 24 hours a day, 6 days a week

“Both the Turn-Assist models and this Pallet-Load are extremely easy to use on a daily basis. We have been able to further optimise the latter system together so that we can get the maximum efficiency out of our machine. Thanks to RoboJob’s automations, we manage to produce 6 days a week, 24 hours a day.”

— Christopher Kammerer, Managing Director, Kammerer Medical Group

“RoboJob has proved to be a good investment not only financially, but also for our employees who enjoy working with it because it is so easy to operate. Moreover, our production is even more flexible than without automation because we can quickly process unexpected orders. Without long set-up times or increasing the workload of our operators. I could recommend RoboJob to anyone because of its value for money and ease of use for the operator.”

— Christopher Kammerer

Robots outlast machines

Kammerer first installed its RoboJob Pallet-Load on an Emco E45. When that machine was replaced by a Mazak CV5-500, the Pallet-Load simply moved along to the new machine. It is a typical story: CNC machines wear out faster than the automation that loads them, and many early RoboJob cells are already on their second or third machine.
