Boers & Co automates seven Mazak machines with RoboJob

Boers & Co, a precision manufacturer from Schiedam, the Netherlands, runs seven RoboJob automation systems on seven Mazak CNC machines. What began with a first meeting at the Technishow trade fair in 2014 and a first installation in 2015 has grown into a long-term partnership: three Mill-Assist Essential cells, two Pallet-Loads and two Turn-Assists now keep its Mazak machining centres, multitasking machines and turning centres running.

Precision since 1895

Boers & Co Precision Solutions Group has been a partner for precision parts since 1895. From Schiedam, near Rotterdam, the group combines three specialities: precision machining, precision sheet metal and complete mechatronic assemblies.

Its customers build medical equipment, flow-control systems, automotive and petrochemical applications. Boers & Co works to ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and ISO 14001, and has a long track record of investing in high-tech machines and processes.

From a first meeting at the Technishow to seven RoboJob systems

Strong partnerships don’t happen overnight. The collaboration between Boers & Co and RoboJob started with an initial meeting at the Technishow, the Dutch trade fair for manufacturing technology, in 2014. A year later, in 2015, the first RoboJob system went into production at Boers & Co. Step by step, it grew into a lasting relationship built on trust, innovation and a shared vision for the future.

Today, RoboJob is an established partner in Boers & Co’s production environment. With seven RoboJob systems in use, automation has become an essential part of the production process.

“You don’t build strong partnerships in a day. They grow over the years.”

— Ronald Koot, CEO, Boers & Co

Seven RoboJob systems on seven Mazak machines

Every automated machine at Boers & Co is a Mazak. RoboJob matched each one with the automation that fits its type:

  • Mazak CV5 500 with a Mill-Assist Essential
  • Mazak CV5 500 (second, identical cell) with a Mill-Assist Essential
  • Mazak HCN 4000 with a Mill-Assist Essential
  • Mazak Integrex i 350 HST with a Pallet-Load
  • Mazak Integrex i 350 HST with a Pallet-Load
  • Mazak Quick Turn 250 MSY with a Turn-Assist 200 i
  • Mazak Integrex i 150 with a Turn-Assist 250 (an earlier model, no longer offered)

Mill-Assist Essential automates the machining centres: two Mazak CV5 500s and a Mazak HCN 4000. The two CV5 500 cells are identical.

Pallet-Load automates the two Mazak Integrex i 350 HST multitasking machines.

Turn-Assist loads and unloads the Mazak Quick Turn 250 MSY with a Turn-Assist 200 i, and the Mazak Integrex i 150 with a Turn-Assist 250. That earlier Turn-Assist model is no longer offered, yet it still runs in production at Boers & Co.

The results: more spindle hours, more production at night

The seven RoboJob systems have changed daily work at Boers & Co in four ways:

  • Higher spindle efficiency: the Mazak machines spend more of their available time cutting.
  • More production at night: the automated machines keep producing after the operators have gone home.
  • Less physical work: operators no longer load and unload every part by hand.
  • More time to optimise: the time freed up goes into improving the production process itself.

“RoboJob is a good partner in automation, because they have solutions that are based on a very simple, good interface that makes it easy for our operators to use.”

— Ronald Koot, CEO, Boers & Co

Automation as a driver of growth

For Boers & Co, automation is much more than an investment in technology. It is a way to work more efficiently, guarantee production continuity and be ready for the future.

With RoboJob systems on seven Mazak machines, the company can keep optimising its production and respond to the needs of a fast-changing manufacturing industry.

Trust, innovation and shared ambition

The collaboration between Boers & Co and RoboJob is built on more than systems. Trust, innovation and shared growth form the basis of a partnership that has grown stronger every year. In the video below, CEO Ronald Koot talks about his experiences with RoboJob and what automation means for day-to-day operations at Boers & Co.
