Magnet systems from Dortmund

Tridelta Magnetsysteme designs and manufactures permanent magnets and magnet systems in Dortmund-Aplerbeck, where magnets have been produced since 1920. The company is part of the family-run TRIDELTA Group and employs around 50 people. Its magnetic couplings, brakes and magnetic assemblies are used in machine building and high-tech applications.

The market for magnet systems is global, and so is the competition. For Tridelta, that made automation a matter of rational choice rather than enthusiasm.

“The choice for automation was rather from rational considerations: in order to be competitive and to reduce labour costs, we simply have to automate. Owing to the global nature of our market, we have to automate in order to survive and to be able to compete in a financially responsible manner.”

— Martin Korte, Business Manager, Tridelta Magnetsysteme

The first Turn-Assist: seen at Okuma

Tridelta first saw the RoboJob Turn-Assist at work during an open day at Okuma. After that, the company looked for references in the market, and they also recommended RoboJob. Tridelta’s choice fell on a Turn-Assist 180, and the company has been a RoboJob customer since 2014.

“It goes without saying that the rapid set-up and changeover time is very important, but it was still the compactness, coupled with the broad applicability of workpieces which convinced us. The Turn-Assist 180 therefore meets our needs perfectly and we are extremely satisfied with it. That also applies to our operators, who work with it every day.”

Three RoboJob systems on Okuma and Mazak machines

What started with one Turn-Assist has grown into three RoboJob systems:

  • Okuma LB 3000 EX with a Turn-Assist
  • Okuma LB 300 with a Turn-Assist
  • Mazak Integrex i 250 HST with a Pallet-Load

The two Okuma lathes are loaded and unloaded by Turn-Assist cells. Most recently, Tridelta added a Pallet-Load to its Mazak Integrex i 250 HST, extending automation to multitasking machining.

A long-term partnership

Since 2014, Tridelta has kept choosing RoboJob, first for its Okuma lathes and now for a Mazak multitasking machine. The three RoboJob systems give Tridelta extra spindle hours on its Okuma and Mazak machines.
