Complex precision parts, with a focus on aluminium

Nossin FMI was founded in 1978 and produces complex, high-precision components with guaranteed accuracy, in all types of steel and non-ferrous metals, and specialises in machining aluminium. Besides parts, the company also assembles modules.

Its customers work in machine construction and engineering, the semiconductor industry, medical and laboratory technology, the electrotechnical and high-voltage industry, and measurement and control equipment. Much of the work has a repeat character, which makes it well suited to automation.

Why automate: production that doesn’t stop

Short lines between professionals keep Nossin FMI efficient. Automation takes that a step further: recurring orders keep running when the team is not there.

“Since the installation of the RoboJob Turn-Assist I am able to continue with production while my people are at lunch or at home. I am no longer 100% dependent on the availability of my labour force. Moreover, I am able to achieve shorter lead times.”

Seven RoboJob systems on Okuma and Hermle machines

What started with one Turn-Assist in 2013 has grown into seven RoboJob systems, covering turning, multitasking and five-axis milling:

  • Okuma LB 3000 EX with a Turn-Assist Essential
  • Okuma LB 3000 EX II with a Turn-Assist Essential
  • Okuma LB 300 II with a Pallet-Load
  • Okuma Multus U 3000 with a Tower
  • Okuma Multus U 3000 with a Turn-Assist Essential
  • Hermle C 32 with a Mill-Assist Essential
  • Hermle C 40 U with a Mill-Assist Essential

Each machine gets the automation that fits it: Turn-Assist cells on the Okuma lathes, a Pallet-Load on the LB 300 II, a Tower and a Turn-Assist on the two Okuma Multus U 3000 multitasking machines, and Mill-Assist cells on the two Hermle five-axis machining centres.
