Meca Technic is located in La Haye-Pesnel, a Norman town just 30 minutes from Mont Saint-Michel. The company was founded in 1999 as Meca Technic Hardy, named after its previous owner. Twenty years later, in 2019, Florent Aubé took over the subcontracting company for turning and milling.

Why automate: job satisfaction and spindle hours

Meca Technic does a lot of series production on its milling machines, and for a long time that was purely manual work. For Florent Aubé, the move to automation was not an obvious one, but it was a very conscious decision.

“Our project with RoboJob was our very first experience with a robot. By investing in automation, it was my goal that our operators would experience more job satisfaction: not only from an ergonomic point of view, but also to give them more variety in the work they do. Not many people enjoy producing series on the machine, and by letting a robot do this repetitive work, we hoped to save more time for other tasks.”

Choosing RoboJob

Florent Aubé started his search online and compared three suppliers. The first cell: a Mill-Assist Essential on a Quaser MV184 (2020)

The first machine to be automated was a Quaser MV184. It was already five years old and not prepared for automation: it had no robot interface and no automatic door. RoboJob took full responsibility for the entire project, including the preparation of the machine. Communication was good, deadlines were met and the project was completed as promised.

In 2022, Meca Technic added a second Mill-Assist Essential, this time on a Hedelius Acura 50 EL. According to Florent Aubé, RoboJob’s total solution means that even older machines can be automated without any problems. Operators with little robot experience received sufficient training. As Florent Aubé puts it: “You don’t need to be a robot expert; you just need to be willing to learn.”

The results: up to 50% turnover growth

Thanks to RoboJob, Meca Technic has significantly increased the availability of its machines. The robots take over the heavy and repetitive work, so the technicians can focus on programming, studies and process improvements. Higher machine utilisation and a lower error margin resulted in up to 50% growth in turnover between 2020 and 2025.

Quality has improved as well: the risk of human error is lower, and the process stays reliable and reproducible, which is essential in series production.
