A Flemish supplier of turned, milled and ground parts
Buyse Metal Works Group has been a supplier to the metalworking industry for more than 60 years. With sites in Aalter (Buyse Decolletage) and Lier (Desart Industries), more than 80 CNC machines and over 100 employees, it is one of the major suppliers of CNC turning, milling and grinding work in Flanders.
Desart Industries, founded in 1980 and part of the group since January 2012, produces parts in small and medium series and prototypes. Besides steels, cast iron, brass, stainless steel and plastics, it specialises in exotic materials such as Duplex, Monel and other nickel alloys. At the end of 2016, Desart moved to a new location in the Duwijck industrial zone in Lier.
Modernise and automate where possible
“Since the acquisition of Desart Industries by Buyse Metal Works Group we have become great advocates of modernisation. Our machine park is being further modernised step-by-step and also automated where possible. In doing so we are succeeding in offering competitive prices and thus staying ahead of the field.”
— Wouter Vandenbranden, General Manager, Desart Industries
Why RoboJob: compact, close by and well referenced
Desart chose RoboJob for three reasons. The Turn-Assist is very compact and takes up little floor space, so the natural way of working is not disturbed and operators can easily move around the machine. RoboJob is based nearby, so any issue is handled quickly. And RoboJob’s references were enthusiastic.
Four Turn-Assists on four Doosan Puma lathes
At the end of 2014, Desart installed its first RoboJob Turn-Assist 250 on a Doosan Puma 2600Y. Thanks to the smooth integration, a second Turn-Assist 250 followed on another Puma 2600Y, and later two Turn-Assist 270 cells.
- Doosan Puma 2600Y with a Turn-Assist 250
- Doosan Puma 2600Y with a Turn-Assist 250
- Doosan Puma 3100SY with a Turn-Assist 270
- Doosan Puma 2600 with a Turn-Assist 270

The result: up and running in three days
“In retrospect, the speed of the installation is also an enormous strength of RoboJob: on Monday the robot base was anchored, on Tuesday the robot was installed and on Wednesday our operators were trained. […] All these elements, as well as the ease of use and the availability of the Turn-Assist meant that we quickly decided to purchase a second system.”
