Precision machining since 1974

Since 1974, Puget Production Mécanique has produced high-quality components for demanding markets, from prototypes to series. Parts can be finished, pass a strict quality control before delivery, and can be assembled into sub-assemblies. Puget is certified to ISO 9001 and EN 9100, and specialises in robotised multitasking machining.

Found at the Salon de l’Industrie

Puget had been thinking about automation for a long time when it saw RoboJob at the Mazak stand at the Salon de l’Industrie in Paris in 2016.

“The RoboJob representative gave us a demonstration and we were amazed at the user-friendliness of this system. The only parameters we need to specify when setting up a new component are the dimensions of the rough and finished parts, the positioning and then you’re ready. This system, which allows you to adjust and change over so quickly, is really ideal for small series. Not surprisingly we immediately placed our order.”

— Jérôme Puget, President, Puget Production Mécanique

The first cell: twice the output

A few months later, a RoboJob Turn-Assist 250 with a 35 kg robot was installed on a new Mazak Integrex i-200S. Installation took less than a week, and after a short training the operators were ready to go. Puget used the cell mainly at night and at weekends, with one goal: more production capacity.

“Our main objective of this investment was to increase production capacity. When we analyse this now - 10 months after installation - the results are impressive. We get twice as much output on this machine with automation, as on a machine with an operator!”

Four RoboJob cells on four Mazak machines

That result led Puget to buy more. Today, four RoboJob cells automate four Mazak machines:

  • Mazak Integrex i-200S with a Turn-Assist 250
  • Mazak Integrex i-100ST with a Turn-Assist 270
  • Mazak Variaxis i-500 with a Mill-Assist Essential
  • Mazak Variaxis i-500 with a Mill-Assist Essential

The result: more capacity, night and weekend

With four cells on its multitasking machines and five-axis machining centres, Puget runs automated production at night and at weekends. Its first automated machine delivered twice as much output as one with an operator.
