In the past, Nieuwkoop in the Netherlands was a small village. The locals earned their living by harvesting peat. This task was carried out throughout the year, except in winter when the tools that harvested the peat were made.
This resulted in no less than 80 forges in this small community. Therein lies the origin of GN Rope Fittings.
The company, also known as Grofsmederij Nieuwkoop BV, was founded in 1917, and partly thanks to a merger, grew into a producer of tools for various industries, including shipping and fishing. Today GN Rope Fittings is known worldwide as a manufacturer of mooring stages for ships and heavy lifting systems that have their application in the offshore industry. RoboJob was approached for the purpose of automatically loading and unloading heavy workpieces in the immense CNC machines.
